What Happens at the Lab?
Stem Cell Processing
Stem cells are isolated following a meticulous extraction process that separates red blood cells and plasma from the cord blood. This results in a purified and concentrated stem cell sample, ready for secure banking.
Sterility Testing
Each cord blood sample undergoes thorough testing to confirm its sterility, ensuring the banked specimen remains uncontaminated and viable for future use.
Viability Testing
Viability assays evaluate the stem cells’ activity levels and ability to grow, a critical step in ensuring their effectiveness for future medical applications.
Infectious Disease Testing
Infectious disease testing ensures that the sample, particularly cord blood, is free of transmittable diseases such as HIV and hepatitis.
Cell Count
Cell counts are performed before and after processing to monitor cell contents and components.
CD34+ Stem Cell Analysis
Our single-platform enumeration Flow Cytometry system is the most accurate and advanced method available to date for quantifying CD34+ stem cells in your baby’s cord blood sample.
Computer Controlled-Rate Freezing
Our state-of-the-art computer-controlled rate freezers carefully drop the temperature in highly regulated increments, which minimizes cell damage. This method is essential for preserving cell integrity, because reducing temperatures too quickly leads to cell death.
Next Generation Vapor Phase Storage
We exclusively employ vapor-phase storage for all banked samples, ensuring the highest level of safety for your baby’s stem cells.
Certificate of banking
Following cryopreservation, you will receive a certificate of banking highlighting stem cell number, yield, and potency along with information you will need to retrieve the stem cell samples if needed.
Invest in your baby's future health
Registering for stem cell banking takes only a few minutes.
